Nerf
Nerf N-Strike Elite AccuStrike RaptorStrike
Review:
We bought this Nerf gun for our son’s 10th birthday and he loves it! It is very well made and sturdy feeling (unlike some of the other plastic guns). It comes with 2 different size darts, one regular size and one smaller “AccuStrike” size. The instructions are easy to follow and it’s not too difficult to load the gun. The trigger is easy to pull and it has a nice, solid feel to it. The gun is also adjustable so you can change the angle of fire. We’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but so far it seems like it will stand up to some serious Nerf battles!
LEGO
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is a 2019 computer-animated adventure comedy film produced by the Warner Animation Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is the sequel to The LEGO Movie (2014) and the fourth installment in the LEGO franchise. The film was directed by Mike Mitchell, with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the writers of the first film, returning as executive producers and screenwriters. Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Charlie Day, Tiffany Haddish, and Stephanie Beatriz reprised their roles from the first film; new cast members include Maya Rudolph, Chris McKay, and Jadon Sand.
The second part follows Emmet (Pratt), Lucy (Banks), Batman (Arnett), and their friends as they confront a new threat posed by the duplicitous businesswoman known as Sweet Mayhem (Haddish). It also sees the return of Lord Business’ henchman Bad Cop/Good Cop (Offerman), who has now become Good Cop/Bad Cop (Offerman).
The LEGO Movie 2 received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for its humor and animation but criticism for its plot. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 78% based on 312 reviews, with an average rating of 6.8/10. The site’s critical consensus reads, “The Lego Movie 2 assembles a colorful cast of characters and fires on all cylinders with witty one-liners, visual gags, and inventive set pieces.” On Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, the film has a score of 67 out of 100 based on 50 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.
Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of “A” on an A+ to F scale. PostTrak reported that 91% of people who saw the film would definitely recommend it.
Writing for Variety, Owen Gleiberman called The LEGO Movie 2 “an improvement on the original – more chaotic but also more fun”, while acknowledging that it does not reach the same level as some other recent animated sequels such as Incredibles 2 or Toy Story 4. Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian wrote that it is “not quite as good as [the first movie], but still hugely enjoyable”. Sarah Ward of Screen Daily praised the film’s humor and themes of female empowerment while also calling it “a worthy successor” to The LEGO Movie.
Star Wars
When the first Star Wars movie was released in 1977, it quickly became a global phenomenon. The film, which was later subtitled Episode IV – A New Hope, introduced audiences to a galaxy far, far away, and ushered in a new era of blockbuster filmmaking.
Star Wars quickly became one of the most popular franchises of all time, spawning two sequels, three prequels, numerous spin-offs, and an Expanded Universe of novels, comics, TV shows, and more.
The latest entry in the franchise is Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is now playing in theaters. The film has been met with mixed reviews from critics, but has been a huge box office success.
If you’re thinking about seeing The Last Jedi, or if you’re just a fan of the Star Wars franchise in general, here are a few things you should know.
There will be spoilers ahead for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If you haven’t seen the film yet and don’t want to know what happens, stop reading now.
The Last Jedi picks up where 2015’s The Force Awakens left off, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) having tracked down Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on the remote planet of Ahch-To. Luke is initially reluctant to train Rey in the ways of the Force, but eventually agrees to do so.
Meanwhile, the Resistance is on the run from the First Order after their base was destroyed at the end of The Force Awakens. General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) sends Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) on a secret mission while the rest of the group attempts to escape through hyperspace. However, their plan goes awry thanks to some meddling by Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).
The Last Jedi is packed with action, humor, and emotion. There are some truly breathtaking sequences throughout the film, including a spectacular lightspeed chase and an epic battle on the planet Crait. And while The Last Jedi is very much a continuation of Rey and Luke’s story from The Force Awakens, it also features strong performances from newcomers like Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico) and Benicio del Toro (DJ).
The Last Jedi is not without its flaws, however. Some plot points are left unresolved, and certain characters don’t get as much screen time as others. But overall, The Last Jedi is a worthy addition to the Star Wars franchise that is sure to please both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
